In case you didn't get John's email- please let me know if you need to be added to the list.
Just a reminder that the next SoCal AMPS meeting is this Saturday, 4/14/18.
SOCAL AMPS MONTHLY MEETING:
Saturday
4/14/18
4:00 - 8:00 P.M. (or whenever)
Frye Sign Co.
12818 Nutwood St.
Garden Grove, 92840-6312
714-537-0071
Located a few blocks south of Brookhurst Hobbies, just east of Brookhurst St. and north of Garden Grove Blvd.
in the back of the Nutwood Industrial Park.
MEETING ACTIVITIES:
Feature Presentations/Demos/Activities:
(1) Build Night
(2) First Annual SoCal AMPS Informal Wine Tasting
(3) SoCal AMPS will provide pizza and soft drinks
The first quarter of the year is over and there are a number of major local and national shows and club Quarterly Build Contests rapidly approaching
And don't forget our T55 Group Build for the IPMS Nationals in August.
There are definitely models that need to be built, so grab a kit and some tools and come on down for some quality modeling time with fellow experienced and knowledgeable modelers.
SoCal AMPS will be providing the pizza and soft drinks.
To add a little interest to the meeting, we will also be hosting our First Annual Informal Wine Tasting.
This will be strictly and informal affair-whatever wines you guys bring to the meeting will be the wines we'll taste and hopefully finish off.
So for those of you who enjoy the vino please bring something for the Wine Tasting. It could be your favorite wine, or a new wine you've always wanted to taste, or that bottle of wine that you received as a gift and don't know what to do with. Whatever you can contribute will help make for a memorable meeting.
Oh, and if you have some proper wine glasses please bring them also.
I'm told nothing cheapens the experience of enjoying a good wine then drinking it out of a paper cup.
Also, as a modeling tie-in, Jim Spellmire will describe the differences between French, German and Italian wines and show how to model correct WW2 era wine bottles for proper detail additions for your AFV models and dioramas.
Everyone Welcome:
As always, you don't need to be a national AMPS or SoCal AMPS member to attend and there is no cost to buy, sell, trade or just attend the meeting.
Modelers of all ages and experience levels, wives, girlfriends and significant others are always welcome.
Just bring something armor modeling-related to share and participate in the meeting.
Standard Request:
Since our meeting place, the Frye Sign Co., is an operating business with limited seating available, please bring any folding chairs that you may have so we can make sure that we have enough for a successful and comfortable meeting.
New SoCal AMPS Website:
Check out our new website at socalamps.com .
One of the problems with creating and maintaining a good website is having a constant flow of new and interesting content.
So please seriously think about any material you can provide for the website.
Photos of previous meetings, Group Builds, field trips and member models and builds are particularly welcome.
Send whatever material you would like to contribute to Robert Yeatman at robert@socalamps.org .
It will all be be greatly appreciated.
Upcoming-the May SoCal AMPS Meeting:
Saturday, 5/12/18
4:00-8:00 PM
Feature Demos/Presentations/Activities:
(1) Model Kit Auction Club Fundraiser
(2) 2nd Quarterly Build Contest: Kit Auction Models
The May meeting is our club's sole annual fund raising activity.
The money raised is re-invested in club activities-build contest awards, pizza, soft drinks and paper goods for build Night meetings and our summer and year end potlucks; and support to local model contests through the purchase of contest category awards. In June we'd also like to celebrate our 10 year anniversary in epic fashion.
Please bring whatever hobby related items you have to donate (model kits, after market accessories, tools, supplies, books and magazines, etc) to the meeting.
If you are not able to attend the may meeting, please bring your donations to the April meeting, drop them off with a fellow club member or make arrangements to drop them off at our regular meeting location, Jim Frye's Sign Company.
Cash donations are also accepted and appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support to OUR club.
See you at our next meeting.
