4 Hour Model Challenge Guidelines

1 Purpose:
2 (1) Have fun
3 (2) Promote friendly modeling competition within the club
4 (3) Challenge your creativity and model building skills
5 (4) Determine if you can actually build a complete model in 4 hours

8 Any subject
9 Any scale

11 Must be a model kit-have multiple parts that requires glue to assemble
12 No Snap Together, Pre-Painted of Pre-Decalled kits
13 OK to use aftermarket parts
14 OK to use aftermarket decals and transfers
15 OK to use scratchbuilt parts
16 Scratchbuilt parts may be fabricated in advance
17 OK to use display bases
18 Display bases may be fabricated in advance

20 You need to bring everything you need to complete your model
21 model kit and modeling tools, materials and supplies
22 SoCal AMPS will only provide
23 a workspace
24 access to electrical power
25 access to a compressor
26 a selection of weathering supplies

28 All modeling work must be performed on site and within the allocated time limit

30 Before the Contest:
31 Can open the model kit box
32 Can open the kit plastic bags and remove the kit sprues
33 Can't remove any parts from the sprues
34 Can't clean up or otherwise work on any parts while on the sprues
35 Can't paint parts while on the sprues

37 During the Build Phase:
38 Build the model the way you want to and to your own standards
39 Free to do whatever you want to complete your model

41 After the Build Phase:
42 Vote to select the first 3 place winners
43 Must hava a minimum of 3 models for the contest
44 Incomplete models are eligible for the contest
45 Do a Show and Tell session for the modelers to talk about their models
46 Voting by the club members in attendance
47 No judging criteria-use your own judgement
48 Use the Total Points voting system
49 Vote for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place choices
50 Points awarded: 3 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd
51 Top 3 total points counts wins
52 Tie breaker determined by number of 1st place votes
53 If still a tie then determined by number of 2nd place votes
54 First 3 places win Brookhurst Hobbies gift certificates provided by SoCal AMPS
55 1st Place = $25
56 2nd Place = $15
57 3rd Place = $10
