I like big trucks and I can not lie! I really enjoyed building the Trumpeter M983 and I have been wanting to do the M978 tanker but the only game in town atm is the old Italeri kit. I had the M977 in the stash with eduard pe so I figured I'd build it and sort out any issues before I do the M978 which I recently added to the stash. I had been waiting to find a deal on the M978 reissue with the decals for ODS so it looks like lots of HEMTT's are in my future. The kit hasn't been bad so far, just sand to fit, filling holes and lots of patience. The eduard set is two frets worth but it adds a lot of missing detail. The interior door panels need to be reinforced with a little styrene or else it can be difficult to align and glue on the small raised surfaces.
The internal bracing all needed to be sanded flat and to the same length, the frame was warped as it had been removed from the sprue by the previous owner. I had to glue everything together then taped it to board and used tape to keep it straight until the glue dried.
Kinda blurry sorry, some sanding/ fit issues here but it came out well, just need to add the photo etch
There was a lot of stop and go waiting for parts to dry from glue or filler so I started doing sub assemblies
The interior is very plain and about half of the Eduard set is used inside. The seats don't have the nice scissors adjustment like the Trumpy kit but it most likely won't be seen unless the doors are open. The window in the footwell looks greenish from the Vallejo liquid mask.
